What we look for.
What it tells you.
We assess timing performance alongside practical operation and visual condition. Results are reviewed against our acceptance criteria for the calibre and its test conditions.
Amplitude
The balance’s swing, measured in degrees and assessed with the winding state and test position in mind.
degreesBeat error
The difference in time between the two halves of the balance’s oscillation, expressed in milliseconds.
msPositional variation
How the rate changes between horizontal and vertical positions, helping us assess consistency.

Observed running duration, reviewed against the specification of the selected calibre.
hoursFunction & appearance
Visual condition, hand and crown operation, operating noise, and winding or calendar functions where applicable.
inspectionTiming readings depend on winding state, position, instrument settings and test conditions. The certificate records inspection results; final performance in a completed watch also depends on casing and assembly.

If it falls short,
we address it.
A movement that does not meet our standard is held back. Where appropriate, it is calibrated and tested again. If it requires work by the manufacture, it is returned for correction and checked again before release.

A certificate
for every movement.
Every movement is supplied with an individual Meridian Calibre quality-control certificate, documenting its inspection results and review.
It gives you a clear record of the movement supplied: its calibre and movement identifier, timing measurements, power-reserve observation, applicable functional checks and inspection details.

the starting point.
Ordering through Meridian adds a documented inspection and release stage between production and your workbench, together with the service to guide your enquiry, coordinate corrective work and keep the conversation clear.
Results you can review
An individual certificate makes the inspection visible, with results specific to the movement supplied.
Correction before release
If a movement falls short, we manage calibration or its return to the manufacture and arrange the follow-up checks.

06 / The final check
Care does not stop
at the certificate.
Packaging is part of our quality process. We check the movement, its accompanying documentation and its protective packing before dispatch, giving preparation for the journey the same attention as the inspection itself.
From the movement to the paperwork to the parcel, every part of the handover matters.
Fine finishing
What a finished movement looks like
The same calibre as manufactured and after finishing by Memorigin: as it leaves the production line, and after hand-finishing in Hong Kong.
Decoration re-cut
The direction and pattern of the striping is changed to suit your design.
Rotor re-coloured
The standard gilt rotor became black here; other colours, and your logo, are available.
Bevelled edges
Every bridge edge is chamfered and then polished, so it catches the light the way fine watchmaking should.
Polished screws
Each screw head is individually finished.
Finishing is optional and quoted per design.
Made yours
Your name on the movement
Your logo on the rotor. Your wording engraved on the bridges. Striping and finish colour to your specification. The movement carries your brand; neither of ours appears on it.
